P.E. Practices
P.E. Practices
In order to keep our students and staff safe, P.E. will look a lot different for at least the first 9 weeks of school. We will be following strict guidelines by PCSB and CDC. Listed below are the steps we are taking to keep everyone safe in P.E...
1. Students and teacher are not required to wear masks during activity or in outdoor setting (however, students and teachers must carry their masks on their person at all times).
2. P.E. classes will be reduced in size. No more than 25 students will be in one PE class.
3. All classes will be taught in the gym, classroom or outside depending on weather and space. (We plan to be outside as much as possible, weather permitting. If temperature is over 85-90 degrees, we will be in the gym.)
4. Plato Academy PE Dept. will follow all PCSB and CDC health guidelines for teaching PE outdoors and classroom instruction.
5. Students will need to bring their own water bottles to PE class everyday. (water fountains for drinking will be off-limits for safety, however, water fountains may be used to refill water bottles only)
6. Students who have an illness or injury, will be escorted by a teacher or nurse. (Students are no longer permitted to escort their classmates.)
7. Students will not be permitted to bringing items they do not need in PE class. The following items are permitted:
1. Doctors/parents notes to be excused or return to PE
2. A book to read if not able to participate
3. Necessary medical items (EPI pen, etc.)
4. Winter clothing (jackets, hats, gloves), only when having class outside in cooler weather.
5. Mask
6. Water bottle
8. Please be sure the student is wearing proper tennis shoes to school or change into their proper shoes for P.E., BEFORE they arrive to P.E. class.
9. Time permitting, we will do our best to allow students to wash their hands after PE class, or we will sanitize their hands, if possible.
